Finding that "It" Factor with your Edmonton DJ
If you're currently planning your wedding, you're probably doing a few things. Maybe you started by searching the internet for companies, reading some reviews, sending out for estimate requests and perhaps, even meeting with the vendors that give you the best feel.
Good for you, because that's a great start. Here's the problem.
With all that information, how do you know what information is relevant or better yet, what makes one company better than another despite the variety of prices you've probably received.
As a professional DJ and owner of one of Edmonton's larger entertainment companies, I'm going to share with you a secret that some of the most successful wedding vendors don't want you to know.
Every good company has at least one USP. What is a USP?
A USP is otherwise known as a Unique Selling Proposition.
It's that one thing that separates their company from their competition. In other words, a USP is some area of that company's business that offers a solution to their customer’s problems. Even more simple, a USP is the reason why a customer does business with that particular vendor.
Let me ask you a question.
If you sat down with three different photography companies and only one supplied you with the rights to reproducing your digital photos without the photography companies permission; but that one feature was important to you, which company would you likely choose?
Well if most other areas are considered equal, ie. you like their photos, you trust they are professional, they offer the time frame you want and the price isn't different by some drastic $3000 amount; the chances are that one feature or USP gets you to gravitate to that one company.
If you are making a list of what you want in any company you hire for the most important day of your life as a couple, what is important to you?
A number of questions I'm often asked include:
Do we as DJ's take requests?
Do we have back-up DJ's?
How much experience do we have?
Are we insured?
Can we be interactive?
What is our price?
There are plenty more, but my point here is that when we get these questions, we know the answers are important to the couples who ask them. Our answers, if different than our competitors can be considered our USP.
I'm proud to say that we've taken great pride in having more USP's than our competition in a number of areas. Let me give you an example.
Question:Do we as DJ's take requests?
Answer: Of course. Both before, during and after the event. With every client, we provide a reception form to which clients can list the songs, requests or specifics they want to ensure the DJ carries. Our DJ's also have thousands of titles available at the event and will let your guests know they can make requests. We also add an opportunity for any client, once their event is complete to request a personalized CD with their most important songs. We'll send that anytime after the event is over.
Question: Do we have back-up DJ's?
Answer: For every event. You can never know for sure what obstacles such as illness, emergencies or weather conditions can cause an absence from a vendor you hire. We have on-call DJ's for every event as well as additional equipment a phone call away should their be any issues.
Question: How much experience do we have?
Answer: It varies among our entertainers and you'll see it reflected in some of the variations in our pricing, but all DJ's must go through a strenuous training program and meet certain criteria before ever being allowed to perform an event on their own. Many of our DJ's have done hundreds of events.
Question: Are we insured?
Answer: Absolutely. We carry over $2,000,000 in liability insurance to every event. Some venues won't actually allow you to hire a company who doesn't have it.
Question: Can we be interactive?
Answer: Of the many of our options, you can select non-interactive to fully interactive shows and we'll work with you specify the type of interaction you'd like to see at your event. From line dances and conga lines to games and trivia to Name That Tune, we have entertainers who can do almost anything including emcee your event.
Question: What is our price?
Answer: We're proud to offer a variety of prices from off-season rates to summer Saturdays and from non-profiled options, to personalized DJs. All of our prices include items like insurance, lighting, cocktail and dinner music and more. We can fit most budgets and can customize our services to suit almost any need.
